Male Allyship & the Emerging Male Allies Program
The Emerging Male Allies Program (EMAP) is a structured, two-session workplace learning program designed specifically for men working in male-dominated industries — particularly construction, civil, and engineering.
EMAP gives participants the knowledge, language and confidence to become genuine allies for women in their workplaces. Through facilitated discussion, real-world scenarios and evidence-based content, participants explore:
The realities of working in a male-dominated industry as a woman
How unconscious bias forms and operates in hiring, promotion and everyday interactions
The myth of meritocracy and the concept of gender equity
What active male allyship looks like in practice — from junior site workers to future leaders
Practical tools for sponsorship, inclusive language and speaking up
